Does the Mac Dock show window previews?

No, not on hover. macOS has no setting for it. It does have three ways to see an app's windows from the Dock, and one of them is close to a preview.

How do I see all of an app's windows from the Dock?

• Right click the icon. The menu lists each open window by name; choose one to bring it forward. Show All Windows at the bottom lays them out.
• App Exposé. With the app in front, press ⌃ ↓ to see its windows as thumbnails, including minimized ones along the bottom. Listed in Keyboard Shortcuts as Application windows.
• Minimized windows on the right. With Minimize windows into application icon turned off, each minimized window sits as a live thumbnail on the right of the Dock. It was off, so this was how it looked, on our Mac.

Do I need an app for Dock previews?

Only if you want hover previews specifically. Several apps add them by replacing or overlaying the Dock. Try the built in ways for a week first: App Exposé shows more than a hover preview does.

Every window in a row instead
