Coming from Hyprland to a Mac
Hyprland's smooth animations and tiling do not exist on macOS. What gets closest on a Mac, and how a scrolling strip with spring motion compares.
Hyprland is a dynamic tiling Wayland compositor for Linux, known for its smooth animations and deep configuration. It does not run on macOS.
What you can get on a Mac
- Grid tiling with yabai, AeroSpace or Amethyst. Configurable, though window motion is limited by what macOS allows apps to do.
- Scrolling tiling with ClutterFreeMac. Windows glide along the strip, and a three finger swipe moves you to the next screen.
What you give up is the single config file shaping everything. What you get is a layout that works with the Mac rather than around it: the Dock, the menu bar, Spaces and full screen apps all behave as you expect.
