The app
ClutterFreeMac arranges windows on your Mac. It reads window positions, sizes and titles so it can arrange them and remember your layout, and that information never leaves your Mac. The app has no account, sends no analytics, and does not read the contents of your windows.
If you allow Screen Recording, the app keeps a small picture of each window on your strip, and of your desktop behind them, so that moving between screens can follow your fingers the way Spaces do. Pictures are taken when your fingers touch the trackpad, when you switch windows, after each move and every few seconds while a window is on screen. They are kept in memory only, replaced as they are taken again, dropped when the window closes or the app quits, never saved to disk and never leave your Mac.
It contacts us in only two ways. Once a day, if you leave it on, it fetches a small file to see whether a new version exists; nothing about you or your Mac is sent with it. And it sends a crash or problem report only when you click Send, or after you have chosen to send crash reports automatically.
Crash and problem reports
A report holds the app and macOS versions, your Mac's model, how many displays you use, your ClutterFreeMac settings, the crash details for a crash, what you typed, your email if you gave it, and, if you leave the box ticked, a log of what the app was doing. That log names apps and window sizes, never window titles, contents or file names. Reports are kept for up to 12 months to fix problems, then deleted. To have yours deleted sooner, email us.
Buying
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, who act as the merchant of record and process your card details and billing address. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought, so we can send your download and answer questions. We never see your card number.
This website
We may use analytics on this site to count visits and see which pages and buttons are used, so we can improve the site. These tools may set cookies or use local storage. They never receive anything from the app.
If you email us, we use your message and address to reply. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email support@macdeclutter.online. We reply within 30 days.
