Using a Logitech mouse to manage windows on a Mac
Logitech's gesture button can open Mission Control, switch desktops and show App Exposé. How to set it up in Logi Options+, and good buttons to assign.
Install Logi Options+, select your mouse, and set the gesture button (the thumb button on MX Master mice) to Gestures. Hold it and move the mouse to manage windows.
The default gestures
| Hold the gesture button and | Does |
|---|---|
| Move up | Mission Control |
| Move down | App Exposé |
| Move left or right | Switch desktops |
| Click without moving | Mission Control or Show Desktop, depending on settings |
Good extra buttons
- Assign a side button to a keystroke such as ⌃ ⌥ → so one click moves to the next window in a window manager.
- Use the thumb wheel for horizontal scrolling.
- Set app specific buttons in Options+ so they change with the app in front.
With ClutterFreeMac, mapping two buttons to ⌃ ⌥ ← and ⌃ ⌥ → gives a mouse the same one step moves along the strip that a trackpad swipe does.
