Taking notes during a video call on a Mac
Keep the call, your notes and the shared document in view at once on one screen: sizes that work, and how to stop the call window hiding behind others.
Put the call in a third of the screen and notes in two thirds. People's faces are still clear at a third, and notes get room to write.
Tips
- Use speaker view or a single row of faces so the call works at a small size.
- If the call shrinks into a floating mini window when you switch apps, that is fine for listening; expand it when you present.
- Share a single window rather than the whole screen, so your notes stay private. See screen sharing layouts.
When there is a shared document too
Call, notes and a shared document are three windows. On a laptop that is a squeeze. On a ClutterFreeMac strip, the call and notes share the screen, the document is in the next column, and a swipe moves between them without the call ever ending up behind something.
Questions
How do I see a Zoom call and my notes at the same time on a Mac?
Put the call in about a third of the screen and your notes in the rest, using tiling or a window manager.
